It’s not always easy getting where you want to go. There is lots of rerouting and you may have to make a U-Turn. But it can be easier if you are flexible and willing to learn from your mistakes.

Here’s a Musical Musing about a U-Turn. Listen to it with the original music I’ve created below to go with it. It’s Ben Schwendener playing on the piano with me, Dr. Mache Seibel narrating. Can you can identify with this?

You’re almost there. You’re looking for the right address. You’re looking left and right and trying not to hit anyone in traffic, and the numbers are coming up fast, and you pass the house you wanted to stop at. Oh… you’ve got to make a U-turn.

It’s not always easy getting where you want to go.

It’s not easy to make a U-turn. There’s traffic. Oh man, there’s traffic. It’s busy, and you’re in the wrong lane because you wanted to park next to the cars, and there’s another lane on your left, and then you’ve got to get to the other side of the road, and man, you’ve got to make a U-turn.

But, if you don’t, you never get to where you’re going. No. You missed it.

What happens in your life when you’re trying to get to a certain place? Situation’s not so good. You want to make a difference. Things have got to change. You passed the opportunity and you’ve got to make a U-turn, in traffic.

Well, first you just realize the time has come. You know where you want to go. But you’re stressed and it’s stopping you from getting there.

You know what’s cool about it? You don’t have to make U-turn. You can just go around the block, because you know where you want to go, and now it’s easy. But, you are still tensed up, not sure, uncertain, because you’ve never been that way before, and you’re still focusing on the fact that you missed where you wanted to be, just chewing yourself out, sitting there agitated, angry, upset. Oh, man.

Then, you take a deep breath. So what. That house ain’t moving. You know where it is. You’re not in the rain. You’re driving, man, just chilling in your car. It’s just around the block, just a little alteration in your immediate plans and, suddenly, it’s all pretty clear. You can do it. You can get where you want to go, once you know where you want to go, if you just calm down. You don’t even need to make a U-turn.
