Just about everyone I talk to is stressed. Covid19, money, work, school, elections…the list goes on and on. You fill in the blank________. And stress makes everything worse, including menopause symptoms.
The reason may vary, but what is universal is the need to destress. To take time to stop the world and get off for a minute. To relax. To smell the roses. To take a deep breath.
It’s not easy to relax when you’re coiled up like a spring. Most people don’t have a stress switch they can flip from on to off. But you can MacGyver your own stress switch.
Here’s how. Stop what you’re doing, stop what you’re thinking, and start thinking about something different that either makes you happy or grateful. It makes sense. If you’re going in the wrong direction, you’ve got to stop and turn around.
To help you do that, I’d like to share a short music video. Remember “BC?” Before Covid? People used to go on cruises. Here are some video shots from a cruise I was on, and music I wrote to go with them.
Breaking the cycle works, and that will improve menopause symptoms, especially if you take a few slow deep breaths while you’re listening. Take a few minutes and play it. When you get up, you’ll have stopped going in a stressful direction and already turned around. Bon voyage!
