As if hot sweats, irritability and poor sleep weren’t enough, a new study published in the August issue of Menopause showed that women in menopause who do not receive estrogen had a higher risk of glaucoma. Glaucoma is a painless increase in pressure within the eye that irreversibly leads to blindness.
The authors found a high correlation between early loss of estrogen and premature aging of the eye.
This gives women in menopause who do not take estrogen another reason to have their eyes checked each year and at the same time, to have the pressure in their eyes checked.
Checking eye pressure is painless and only takes a few minutes. And it could save your vision.
